Neville Counselling is run by a husband and wife team, Pierce and Maria Neville. They are both qualified counsellors and psychotherapists with years of experience between them. They operate separate counselling practices out of the same space.

Both of them hold a BSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy from PCI College Dublin and Middlesex University London and continue to update and enhance their skills and knowledge through ongoing Continuous Professional Development. They are both accredited with the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP).

The practice has been open in Wexford town for 13 years and in that time Maria and Pierce have gained a lot of experience in dealing with clients with different problems. They are both professional full time counsellors which enables them to offer a variety of appointments, both during during the day and in the evenings.

I find working with my clients both challenging and rewarding and take great satisfaction watching them grow in themselves as they become freer people. Free to become the person they were meant to be. Often they could not do this without engaging in a therapeutic process through counselling because of personal issues getting in their way.

My background is as a manager of the service department of an office equipment company. In this role I had lots of experience of dealing with the public as my work took me to offices all over the county. Following that I worked in a supportive and supervisory role on a scheme for long term unemployed men. These men were marginalised in society and had many personal difficulties and obstacles to overcome in their lives. Many of them had addictions. The work with them was challenging and rewarding and I felt I needed more skills to help them. It was one of the reasons that I decided to train as a counsellor.

Maria and myself were also facilitators for a number of years with World Wide Marriage Encounter. This provided a marriage enrichment programme for couples. From this experience and my Couple Counselling Training and work with The Family Life Services I have a lot of experience to offer couples when they come to me for couple counselling.

I love working as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I feel passionate about the value of the work I do to help people deal with the problems that are causing them pain. Its very satisfying to watch them go on to have a better and healthier emotional lives and relationships.

My background is in nursing and I worked for 30 years in the Health service, predominantly in the area of acute medical nursing.

In my counselling practice I have helped a lot of clients who face medical issues. I have worked with people with depression, anxiety and suicide attempts. I have seen patients from the Cardiac Rehabilitation programme, Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and the Motor Neurone Organisation.

My nursing background, dealing with people who are in crisis and ill facilitates me to work well with clients with chronic illness and terminally ill clients and their families.

I also work as the counsellor for The Occupational Health Department of Wexford General Hospital. I provide counselling for all levels of staff to help them deal with stress.
